We all have our favorite "Breakfast Club" character (personally, I have a soft spot for sporty Emilio Estevez - he's the nicest one of the bunch!) Truly, this is a movie that begs to be a part of your Halloween group costume plans. So, round up four friends and dole out the roles. No fighting over vampy weird-chick, Allison!
How to Get the Breakfast Club Look this Halloween:
Molly Ringwald as Claire Standish: The Princess
Easily the most iconic thing about Molly Ringwald is her signature red hair. If there's a redhead among your clan, let her master the privileged suburbanite look. If, however, natural red hair is not in the books, party stores are always stacked with wigs. Or for the slightly more daring, temporary hair dyes in red or orange can help you achieve Claire's 'do. Get dolled up in a pink blouse and a long-ish brown pencil skirt. Cinch your waist with a wide belt and add tall brown boots. Diamond earrings from Daddy top it off, but fake ones are ok, too.
Aside from her fiery locks, Molly Ringwald is known for her plump lips, so apply lipgloss liberally. Lots of blush and bronze eye makeup complete the look. Who wants to play hooky and hit up the mall?
Judd Nelson as John Bender: The Criminal
For some, Bender is the pièce de résistance of "The Breakfast Club." And, let's be honest - who wouldn't want to use Halloween as an excuse to wear fingerless gloves and a long trench coat? If you're going to emulate bad boy Judd you need a plain flannel, dark pants and black boots. For an added touch, tie a red bandana around one boot. Fingerless gloves + a pack of cigs + a blue denim jacket = instant mischief-maker. Cold out? Throw on a trench and a maroon scarf. Very cool.
Ally Sheedy as Allison Reynolds: The Basket Case
Quite possibly the most popular member of "The Breakfast Club," Allison makes for a fun Halloween costume. Rummage the clothing racks at the Salvation Army for a baggy, dark-colored skirt and top. Break out the ol' converse sneaks, if you got 'em. Add an enormous, slouchy bag. Rim your eyes with plenty of black liner, and dishevel your hair into a careless mop. Just don't do that whole dandruff thing. For Allison, it's a stitch. Anyone else, no thanks.
Emilio Estevez as Andrew Clark: The Athlete
If you've got a workout ensemble of some sort, then you're golden. For this wrestling maniac, try a blue tank top, matching pants and sneakers. A zip-up windbreaker is just the thing to keep out the chilly October air. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Anthony Michael Hall as Brian Johnson: The Brain
If you're a closet-physics club member, why not embrace your inner geekazoid and go as honorary nerd character, Johnson? With this Halloween costume, simplicity is key. You will need tan pants that are unfashionably short. A solid-colored sweatshirt over a plain white tee and sneakers and you are good to go.
So there you have it. The coolest Halloween group costume out there. Everybody's gonna wanna be a part of your "Breakfast Club." I practically guarantee it.
