Bat Handprint
Materials:
brown or black construction paper, pencil, marker, scissors, glue
First, draw and cut out two feet, a body, and a bats head. You can either draw on the head with markers or use other colored paper to make eyes, nose, and a mouth. Next, use your child's hands to trace two "wings". Cut out both handprints and glue these to the back of the body so they form the bats wings. Glue on head and feet. You're done! These are great for making numerous bats and hanging them in your trees. Also makes a great keepsake of your child's handprint! make sure to write child's name and date on the back somewhere!
Paper Bag Bat
Materials:
paper lunch bag, black paint, crayons, scissors, wiggly eyes(found in craft stores), construction paper, glue
Paint the whole bag black and let dry. On another piece of construction paper, either use black or paint it black, too. Draw and cut out ears, feet, nose, mouth and wings. Glue them onto the paper bag. Attach the wiggly eyes. Voila! Instant bat puppet. Kids love to play pretend with these spooky critters!
Toilet Paper Roll Bat
Materials:
toilet paper roll, glue, scissors, brown construction paper, crayons or markers
On construction paper, trace and cut out a bats head, wings, and feet. Then use the crayons or markers to decorate them as you desire. Glue colored paper around the toilet paper roll, or even leave plain. Glue all the parts to the tube, the head on top, feet on bottom, and wings on the side but from the back, as though the bat is flying. Young children will have a ball doing this project!
Bat Treat Carton
Materials:
Empty half-gallon cardboard milk carton, glue or tape, scissors, black construction paper.
Draw and cut out pieces for a bat out of the construction paper. Cut a head, eyes,wings, feet, and ears. Cut the top off of the milk carton. Then cover it with black construction paper. Tape or glue the wings to the back of the carton. Then, do the same for the eyes, ears, head, and feet. You can then cut out a strip of cardboard or construction paper to use as a handle, just glue on the side of the carton. Makes a great treat bag that your kids or even classmates will love!
