Halloween is a holiday everyone enjoys and never grows to old to love. Christmas is magical for children up until the age when they figure it out.Christmas may lose its' magic at that time, but it typically takes on a whole different kind of magic. Halloween never loses it magic because it isn't based on cognitive development. If you enjoyed dressing in a Halloween costume as a kid, there is a very good chance you will still enjoy dressing in a Halloween costume. In fact, adult Halloween parties are rampant and activities run all night long and into the wee hours of the next day.

In this day of economical hard times, buying an expensive Halloween costume may be out of your budget. Never fear though, a Halloween costume doesn't have to cost you and arm and a leg. All it takes is a little imagination. A process to use to get creative juices flowing is to look around the room and think about what it would take to become an item in the room. For example if you are in the kitchen ask yourself this question, "How do I make a Halloween costume that turns me into a spatula, a broom, a dust pan, a box of hamburger helper, etc. It is possible to make a Halloween costume for each of these items, it just takes imagination. Intelligent Halloween costume ideas start with thinking of different famous people and figuring out how to capture the essence of that person in a simple, basic way. For example, if Adolph Hitler comes to mind, you may just need to use an eye liner pencil to create a square little mustache right under the middle of your nose. A simple way to complete the Halloween costume is to use gel and part your hair on the left. Voila'!...an Adolph Hitler Halloween costume.

Another intelligent Halloween costume idea is to make a two inch scar out of silly putty and attach it to the upper part of your chin with it sloping down slightly to the left. Add a brown fedora to your Halloween costume and you become Harrison Ford from the Indiana Jones movies.

One last intelligent Halloween costume idea is to dress up as a movie such as: Psycho, Bambi, Bedazzled, 9, Gandhi, Gladiator and JFK etc. The trick to making an intelligent Halloween costume is to think about the one or two attributes that fit with the title of the movie and make those your costume.

Take the well know movie Psycho. There are two shots from the movie that stand out in people's memories. The one where Bates is holding up a knife outside of the shower curtain. Another idea Halloween costume from the movies is dressing up as Janet Leigh with your hair plastered to your head from being in the shower and your mouth wide open stretched into a scream. Both of these poses would be easy to do for a Halloween costume and be something people would quickly recognize, once they knew what movie your Halloween costume represented.
