Halloween is a time of ghost stories and costumes that make you scared out of your mind. In Memphis and Millington there is no need to go door to door trying to get a treat when you can try out these events to keep everyone safe.

Memphis Zoo Boo is an annual event that is running October 19, 20, 26, and 27. Dress up in your best costume and enter the contest for best costume. Walk the zoo at night and stop at the trick-or-treat stations setup through out and get you a treat. The zoo is fun to walk at night, just imagine the sounds that you could hear from the animals that will scare you silly. Enjoy a ride on the train or jump on any of the other kiddy rides for more excitement. Go check out the forest of frights and the Little Beauty Shop of Horrors for a chance of more scarring. The scarring begins at 6:30pm and ends at 9:30pm and only will cost you $12 for adults and $15 for children.

If corn mazes are your thing then try the big one out at the Agri-center that is a massive 8 acres of fun. It is a maze full of fright. Jones Orchard in Millington also has a small corn maze on Singleton Parkway that is scary, but I would advise going for the full scare effect and going to the Agri-Center.

Haunted Houses are the ultimate must see on Halloween. Most haunted houses are age 12 and up. NightShade Manor House is located at 1301 Heistan and has special effects that guarantee a good scream. Expect a little gore as you get scared to death. Nightmarez Haunted House is open on October 18-20 and 25-31 and promises to be the scariest house you have ever entered. From my experience if you scare easy stay away from this house, a friend of mine ended up having an asthma attack because she scared too easy.

In the spirit of Halloween, go on a walk through Elmwood Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in the area, and see if you can see any ghosts or goblins. It is nothing like being in a cemetery on Halloween.

Be safe and smart in the places you go on Halloween. You can also check with your local churches and see if they are holding a fall carnival if the above events do not seem of interest to you.
