Halloween Laugh

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween. Ours ended with amusement. We have a son who is diagnosed with classic autism. This can be quite a challenge. Sometimes, it is okay, but mostly we try to make the best of it. Our family is always laughing. Why should Halloween be any different?

I enlisted my husband to go trick or treating with us. We figured I would take care of our son and he could watch my daughter if necessary. We were coming to the end of the night and my daughter was trying to go to houses without lights on.

Needless to say, I was in a discussion with our daughter about proper Halloween etiquette, when our son takes off like a streak. I usually have a leash on him, but tonight I thought I would try to let him walk.

Anyway, he gets a good ten feet in front of us, running like the wind, so I take off after him. I joined the gym a few months back because I wanted to stay in shape to be able to pick up our son or do whatever was needed with him. The gym has turned out to be a good thing, case and point.

I just caught up to our son when he stops in his tracks. This is nothing new, so I stop too. The second he stopped his pants fall down to his ankles. He is pulling them up as the rest of us are gathering ourselves to say something without laughing at him.

The great thing about autism is he sometimes does not know what is going on. Luckily for us this was one of those times. He pulls up his pants like it is no big deal and continues walking. It was just so funny that it happened as soon as he stops running. The only thing holding up his pants was the wind.

After the 25 yard dash, our son stayed in the vehicle with dad while I took our daughter around the next block. Our son was happy not to be walking so all was well.
