Halloween Moon

Time to Get into the Halloween Spirit! ;)

Suzanne Bennett
The moon dwindles down
The earth says farewell
To summer's voluptuous excess

In the dark of the moon
We ready ourselves
One moon "til the night of all spirits

A season of balance
As green turns to orange
As life turns the corner to rest

A reckoning month
When bounty is reaped
And nights are crisp and festive

A few more days
Just one moon more
To revel in plenty and folly

Gather the apples
The grapes and the wheat.
Gather the rust leaves in piles

Gather the people
The whole world around
Gather in huts, homes and groves.

Blaze your lanterns
And kindle your fires
Draw all your kith and your kin

Share in your cider
And memories and joy
And dance by the light of the moon

Run in your streets
With sparklers in hand
Toss an apple peel over your shoulder

Knock at the doorways
And shout "Trick or Treat!"
Gather with glee by the bonfire

Tell scary stories
Deep into the night
And don't look at your neighbor too closely!

Silver light beams
On folks here and gone
The door between worlds opens wide

A stirring breeze blows
A leveling time
With spirits and quick side-by-side.

This is great. It reminds me of my childhood before you had to worry about creepy adults, razors in apples and candy that has been childproofed.
