Halloween Party Game Ideas for Six to Nine Year Old Kids

Cynthia Harlan
Halloween use to be a fun and safe way of gathering treats and haunting your neighbors. But times have changed, and sometimes it's more than little goblins that scare parents. Some grown-ups have taken tricking too far and have put a damper on the tradition of trick-or treat. So, instead of sending the little ghouls out to haunt the neighborhood, many parents have opted to have Halloween parties instead.

If you are one of those parents who have opted to have a Halloween party, try these games at your next one. The 6-9 year olds that I have had over for our Halloween parties have found them to be great fun.

The Slime Pit Dig for Treasure:

In this Halloween game, the players hunt for buried treasure by reaching their hands into a bowl filled with dirt, mud bugs and slime to find a surprise.

What you will need:

1 pkg. chocolate cream-filled cookies crumbled

2 pkgs. green gelatin

2 pkgs. of prepared chocolate pudding

1pkg. of gummy worms

Assorted treasures : spider rings, glow sticks etc.

Large bowl or tub

Wipes or paper towel for clean-up

In a large bowl or tub prepare gelatin according to package directions. Before the gelatin completely sets add the treasures to the slime. Mix the gummy worms and the chocolate pudding mud together. Spread this mixture over the set gelatin slime. Top mixture with the chocolate cookie crumb dirt.

How to play the game:

Each player in turn reaches through the dirt, mud, bugs and slime to discover their treasure.

This game is lots of fun but quite messy. It is best to play it outdoors. The players can use the wipes or paper towels to clean up after their turn.

The Skeleton Relay:

In this Halloween game the party goers form two teams. They will race against each other to build a skeleton. First team to assemble their skeleton wins the game.

What you will need:

Construction paper

Scissors

Or

Two skeleton door decorations ( the jointed ones that you can disassemble)

Use construction paper and scissors to create the two skeletons. Draw and cut out the skull, then the bones of the arms, the legs, the rib cage and the hips. As an alternative you, may buy two jointed skeleton door decorations and disassemble them into piles of bones.

How to play the game:

Place the two piles of skeleton bones at one end of your yard or room. Have the two teams line up at the other end of the room or yard. The first player on each team races to their pile of bones and chooses one piece. Next, they run to the other end and tag the next player in line. While that player is running to get his piece; the first player places his piece in the right order to form the skeleton. The winning team is the first team to correctly form their skeleton.
