Decorate for Fun

If you are planning to decorate for the Halloween holiday, then check out these simple ideas for a spooky time. Home décor can be a creative festivity for the holidays. Everyone loves the black and orange decorations, the jack-o-lanterns, and the haunted houses that fill most neighborhoods this time of year. Costume parties and spooky events encourage friends and family to get together for this fun-filled holiday.

The most dramatic way to decorate for a Halloween party is to hang fun and creative paper decorations from the ceiling or chandelier. Most discount stores have pre-fabricated home decorations that you can hang from the ceiling using ribbon or string. These interior design options for the Halloween holiday come in a range of shapes and sizes including jack-o-lanterns, black cats, and ghosts.

You can give your home decor a boost by designing a table with a burst of Halloween holiday fun by using autumn colored paper plates in the shape of pumpkins. Also, your table centerpiece can include a black cat, ghost, or goblin. Be sure to use plenty of candles (black or orange would be best) to create a flickeringly spooky atmosphere.

For a special treat, take gift bags filled with Halloween candy and treats and hang them, using ribbon, from the top of each of the dining chairs. These will add color and a vibrant tone to the table decor. In addition, you can use paper napkins and tie a bow made of straw around each one.4
Create an atmosphere of holiday enjoyment by playing fun-filled Halloween music. Songs like the Monster Mash, and Casper the Friendly Ghost will create a warm environment to accentuate your fall interior design. Kids and adults love the smell of autumn, so choose candles or plug-ins that have a cinnamon or nutmeg aroma.

Divulge in Halloween cheer by decorating a banister or staircase with a string of paper pumpkins, berry vine, or ghosts. These can be lit with a strand of lights to increase the mood of the holiday. If you need a strong focal point in the main living room, fill a metal tub with apples or pumpkins and place them on a coffee table or in a corner of the room. This tub can be decorated with berry vine, lights, or additional Halloween décor. It is best to avoid decorating a room for a party with lots of "bloody" characters or horror figures. Those typically add a sense of doom to a room, so save those elements for the outdoors...or avoid them altogether.
