Halloween Party Ideas

Lady Dee
Why should kids have all the fun on Halloween? Get your friends together to help celebrate the holiday, and be sure to give prizes for the most imaginative costumes and makeup. Spook adults using simple decorating ideas and easy recipes. Your Halloween party guests will love sipping slimy green punch and eating coffin sandwiches. Add fun to the party with exciting games that will provide plenty of laughter and a frighteningly good time. My ideas have come from various sources like, Good Housekeeping, Halloween.com, and recipegoldmine.com.

A creative way to spook your guests are with magical iced glasses. Before your Halloween party, write scary messages on your party glasses and freeze them. When your guests arrive and start enjoying their refreshments, they will be surprised to find a spooky message slowly appear on their glasses. The first step is to mix dish soap with water in a small bowl. Stir the soap and water mixture well. Then Dip your finger in the soap mixture and write on the outside of each glass. Write "Boo, Happy Halloween," or anything you want. Draw spooky haunted house, ghost, pumpkin or witch pictures. Then immediately set the glass in the freezer making sure it is upright. Do not allow the glass to touch other items in the freezer, and allow it to freeze for 30 minutes. Take the glass out and fill with a beverage. As the glass warms up, your spooky Halloween message will appear for your lucky guests. I have done this at parties and it always is a conversation piece. This idea originally was seen in halloween.com.

Recipegodmine.com has a whole holiday section, and one part is Halloween. From there you can make:
Blazing Monster Eyes recipe
4 tablespoons softened butter
1 teaspoon paprika
1 dash cayenne pepper
1 cup extra sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup mild cheddar cheese
1 cup flour
50 whole black olives
50 small chunks of pepperoni
Heat the oven to 400 degrees F.
In a medium bowl beat the butter until very soft and smooth. Add the paprika and cayenne and blend. Add the cheeses and mix well. Stir in the flour.
Take an olive and insert the chunk of pepperoni. With your fingers wrap about 1 1/2 teaspoons of dough around the olive, leaving a small part of it outside the dough to form an iris on the eye (use the pepperoni stuffed opening for the part that is seen for the best effect). Roll the mixture into a smooth ball and place one inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake until the cheddar pastry is firm and crispy, but not browned, about 12 minutes.
Serve hot or cold.
Makes 50 pieces.

Bleeding Cupcakes recipe
1 egg
8 ounces softened cream cheese
1/3 cup granulated sugar
Red food coloring or frosting tint
6 ounce white chocolate chunks
1 recipe homemade or boxed cake batter
Heat the oven to the specified temperature in your cupcake recipe. Line muffin tins with foil or paper liners.
Mix together the filling before mixing together the batter. Beat the egg in a medium bowl. Beat in the softened cream cheese and mix until smooth. Add the sugar and mix until smooth. Add the coloring until the desired color is reached. Make the color several shades darker than the desired end result as the color will lighten as it bakes. Fold in the white chocolate chunks. Prepare the cupcake batter. Fill the cups 2/3 full with the cake batter. Place about 1 1/2 teaspoonsful of the filling in the center of each cupcake. Bake, cool, and frost as directed in the cupcake recipe.

No party is complete without a slimy punch. In an extra large punch bowl combine a lemonade mix with sugar, meringue powder and seltzer. Add green and yellow food coloring to make a slime green color. The mixture will be very frothy. Squeeze red decorating gel down the insides and around the rim of serving glasses before adding the punch. If you like it to fog, then add dry ice to the punch and allow the fog to rise.
