Halloween Party Ideas for Adults

So you want to host the most memorable Halloween party of your life. The purpose of Halloween is to scare and be scared, and you want a party that is exciting, mysterious and one where everyone will have a great time. The must-have formula for this party includes costumes and alcohol. Without these two important necessities, your party will be a bore, and guests will probably be leaving early.

First you're going to need to get decorations to turn your house into a spooky environment that gets the guest in the spirit of this great holiday. Some cheap decorations include fake spiderwebs, blow-up pumpkins, candles, skeletons and leaves. If you're feeling up to the challenge, carve a pumpkin yourself and put a candle inside the night of the party. Renting a fog machine works wonders to transform your space into a something out of a horror movie. If you see roadkill on the side of the road at least 15 days before the party, pick it up and let it decompose outside our house (use gloves or shovel to pick up roadkill). Then by the time of your party, you will have a real skull that you can display at the front door.

Once you have your decorations set up, you need to start thinking about food options. Miniature hot dogs boiled on the stove and then put on a plate covered in ketchup will look like bloody fingers. Cookies shaped like ghosts, black cats, or skulls will be spooky and delicious. Another cheap food would be popcorn inside a rubber glove to simulate a severed hand.

Now you're going to need some drink ideas. Combining vodka and cranberry juice with an olive floating at the bottom could be called the bleeding eyeball. Green jello shots with a candy corn in the middle can be called "the rotten tooth". Mixing gin and blue cool-aid could be called the witch's cauldron. If you're daring you can take a shot out of the roadkill skull, but I suggest doing this only at the witching hour.

If you notice the guests are becoming bored, make sure you give them another witch's cauldron. Another way to bring excitement to the party is by calling the weird uncle in the family and telling him to stop by with a mask and chainsaw. Also putting on scary music such as Lightning Bolt, Swans, or Severed Heads will keep the guests on their toes. Randomly turning off the electricity will probably elicit screams and paranoia, especially if the uncle is around.
