Remember, each of these items is actually a real food. The presentation is what makes it creepy. It's up to you, to set the scene!
Iced Teeth Tea
Purchase as many sets of plastic teeth as you will have guests. These can be found at dollar stores, discount stores and nearly everywhere. Bend them all the way open, and place them on a baking sheet (points facing down). Fill them with water (stained bright yellow with food coloring). Freeze overnight until solid.
Bend the molds to pop the teeth into each glass of iced tea. Green tea is particularly eerie, but nutritious as well. (Younger guests might prefer neon lemonade, Mountain Dew, or Gatorade.)
Hint: Dry the teeth well, and you can even distribute them to your party guests!
Blood and Guts
Prepare linguini and meatballs, using your favorite recipe. Be sure to choose a red sauce, such as marinara. (Even the canned varieties will work, if you select the ones with the long spaghetti-shaped pasta.) Refrigerate until well-chilled. Serve cold. Eek!
Eyeballs and Jelly
Wash a big bunch or grapes (any color), and remove all stems. Pour a large jar of applesauce into a glass party bowl. Add grapes, and mix well. Serve in little glass bowls, for the creepiest effect.
Ants & Maggots on a Log
Open a bag of pretzel rods. Spread each pretzel with peanut butter, cream cheese, or spreadable cheddar. Place black and white raisins into the spread.
Wormy Apples
Obtain a large package of gummy worms and enough apples to serve all your guests.
Use an apple wedger to cut your apples into sturdy slices. Dip these into orange juice, as this will help to prevent browning, while you are serving. Arrange apple slices on a large platter, and cover them with the gummy worms. Use your imagination here, so the worms will appear to be crawling over, under and through the apples.
Giant Spiders
Make a batch of fudge brownies, according to package directions. Pour batter into prepared muffin pans. Bake and cool.
Cut shoestring licorice (black or red) into four-inch strips. Stick four of these into each side of a brownie muffin to form a spider. If you wish, you can add candy dots for eyes.
Dig in!
