in the blue glow of the full moon.
Spirits, demons, witches play
in the corners of my eyes again.
The twisted faces of centuries
of dark magic glare into my brain.
Their gnarled teeth sink deep
into my flesh. The searing, grating pain
of tortured, unnamed beasts,
their snouts shine wet in the black.
Their jutting jaws hunger and feast
on the flesh of innocents.
I stare deep into the mirror shining
with the damned spirits staring back.
The killer's knife flashes down into
a woman chained in an abandoned shack.
Her screams are muffled by his hand,
gloved with leather, now stained red.
The killer carved her flesh apart
and smiled as he fed and fed.
The witches knew this evil spell
they sought within their empty hearts
that turned every good and loving man
into a butcher in the dark.
They mixed the guts of birds and bats.
They churned, in their stew, the brains of goats.
They called the names of every demon known,
bound a virgin in her sleep,
and cackling, slit her throat.
And now the beasts of nameless evil
roam in the mist of this wicked night,
so behind each corner, shadow, and mask
a demon feeds on children's fright.
They suffer in the deepest wells.
They suffer on sacrificial tables.
They suffer and writhe and scream and wail.
They'll have you suffer if they're able.
I tell you truth, my pure ones, my light,
the mirrors know the blood that's shed
from unwary travelers that stumble down
the broken path psychotics tread.
This is the night of Halloween,
when fear and death, upon the world,
is unleashed into each and every mind
and murder haunts your neighbor's door.
There is no safety in your home,
they hunt you no matter where you hide,
and when you turn your head to look
they sneak around, behind you, to bite.
