Halloween Pumpkin Patches in Arizona

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Jan Peterson
A few days before Halloween, Families everywhere will be carving Jack-o'-lanterns that will end up center stage by the front door, ready to greet the neighborhood's trick-or-treaters. In Arizona, finding that perfect pumpkin can be a fun event all in itself. Picking your own pumpkin right off the vine from a working farm is great family fun and an educational day for kids of all ages! Some Arizona Pumpkin Farms are Now Closed!

It is important to research your favorite pumpkin farm before heading out for the drive since, unfortunately, some Arizona farms that were very popular for Halloween pumpkins over the years have recently closed. For instance:

-Young's Farm, Dewey, Arizona - After sixty years, the farm was sold in 2006.

-The Duncan Family Farm, Goodyear - was closed in 2002 after 10 years, when the Duncan Family was told that the farm was in a dangerous fly zone due to its proximity to Luke Air Force Base. They were forced to discontinue their festivals, school field trips, and pick your own fields.

-Riggs Family Farms, Chandler - suffered damage from a 2007 fire and they are not rebuilding their farm.

So, now that you know of all the fun pumpkin patches to visit in Arizona this year, and whether or not Charlie Brown ever believes in Linus's Great Pumpkin, there's no excuse for you not having that perfect pumpkin grinning by your front door this Halloween!

  • Pick-your-own pumpkin patches provide a fun family event!
  • Pumpkins are low in calories, fat, and sodium and high in fiber,Vitamins A& B, and potassium.
  • A pumpkin is actually a fruit, not a vegetable!
Per History.com, "Jack'O'Lantern" is from an Irish myth wherein "Stingy Jack" conned the Devil out of cash. When he died, he wasn't allowed into Heaven or Hell, and now forever roams the earth with a lit piece of coal which he put in a carved out turnip.
