The first aspect of any party is sending out invitations and keeping with the baby shower theme they must be Halloween related. The invitations should be orange, black or other colors that signify Halloween. For those who are artistic they may consider making their invitations. A great idea for a Halloween themed baby shower would be pumpkin invitations. For those who want to make them gather some orange paper, green ribbon, scissors, hole punch, black pen and anything else that can be used for decorations. Get the orange paper and fold it in half. It should be folded the long way. Starting at the fold of the paper draw a picture of a pumpkin, this will be the top of the invitation. To get a perfect pumpkin trace a cookie cutter or other circular object. The invitation can now be folded over the top. After getting the shape just perfect shape cut the image out making sure that both the front and back sheet are being cut.
Use the hole punch to make a hole at the top of the pumpkin where the stem would be found. Next place the ribbon through the front hole in the card and out of the back and tie it into a knot. This is the stem of the pumpkin. The next thing is simply to decorate and be creative. The black pen will be used to write the baby shower information on the inside. For those who don't want to go this route, they can purchase invitations or print them off of the web. If it is not October, a party store will have Halloween invitations and the individual can make them more personal to fit their baby shower theme.
Decorations are important for any party and are a vital part of any baby shower theme. For a Halloween themed party the host should purchase spider webs, rubber spiders and other creepy crawly things to decorate the inside and outside of the house. It is important to decorate the door or entrance. Orange and black balloons are a nice touch as well as ghosts and goblins. A nice touch would be to create some floating ghosts. The only material needed is a white sheet, helium balloon and balloon weight, ribbon and a black magic marker. Hosts should blow up the balloon and tie it to the corresponding balloon weight. Put the white sheet over it and draw a face and there is an instant ghost. Play music in the background that is related to the baby shower theme. Decorate the table with spider webs and little ghost and goblin figurines.
Play a trivia game and ask questions that are related to the history of Halloween or scary movies. A crossword is also a good idea for a Halloween themed baby shower. Use items related to Halloween such as movies or common Halloween items such as pumpkins, candy etc. Bobbing for apples is a common Halloween activity. Guest can bob for pacifiers. This is a simple game and only requires a big wash pan or the bathtub, water and pacifiers. The creepy crawler game is another favorite. Place items in a bag and have guests feel them and guess what they are. Eyeballs could be made with peeled grapes and spaghetti noodles make great brains. For prizes give away candy, party favors related to Halloween or t-shirts etc in honor of Halloween.
Every baby shower has food. Serve pumpkin shaped cookies or orange cupcakes decorated. An orange cake is another great option. Be sure to use orange or black plates and utensils and cover the table with a black table cloth. None of these materials are expensive and they all will help to make a great Halloween themed baby shower.
