Halloween at Walt Disney World 2009

Celebrate Halloween with Amazing Disney Activities

Amanda M. Rose
Walt Disney World is such a "magical" place to be when traveling during any holiday, and Halloween is no different. Walt Disney has created some special activities that range in month long celebrations to activities that are simply for Halloween day and night.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party - Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a celebration that kicks off at 7:00 p.m. when the park is closed to all other guests and runs until midnight. Because the celebration starts later in the evening, admission to Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom is not needed, you simply need a ticket to attend. The admission includes activities such as, trick or treating, two "Boo to You" Parades and an amazing firework display that is exclusive to the Halloween Party. Most rides are open, and often times there is little to no wait time at all. There are also many different Meet & Greet opportunities scattered throughout the park that features some very hard to find Disney Characters, some of which are dressed up in their Halloween Costumes.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a great activity that is celebrated from the beginning of September to November 1st, with parties several times each week. More Information on Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Haunted Carriage Ride - In 2008 Walt Disney World ended the Halloween Haunted Hay Rides at Disney's Fort Wilderness and began the new tradition of a private Halloween Haunted Carriage Ride. The Haunted Carriage Ride takes guests though the forests of Walt Disney World's Fort Wilderness. This activity starts at the beginning of October, and guests traveling to Walt Disney World throughout the month to Halloween are welcome to make a reservation for this amazing activity. The Haunted Hay Ride is $60, and is a perfect addition to all for Halloween. (Recommended to make a reservation for this activity at ahead of time)

Trick or Treat in Downtown Disney - Downtown Disney offers amazing Halloween activities to all guests. Since Pleasure Island has shut down, the activities that are offered are family-friendly and include trick-or-treating, a dance party and a pumpkin patch. The Downtown Disney Halloween activities start at 5:00 p.m. and run through to 9:00 p.m. The children are allowed to "trick-or-treat" through several of the Walt Disney owned stores in Downtown Disney, receiving a treat bag from each store (approximately a dozen stores). The Trick-or-Treat evening at Downtown Disney is an activity that is only offered on Halloween Night.

Activities at Resorts - The Resorts at Walt Disney World offer many activities on Halloween Day, including Pumpkin carving, Halloween movies by the pool, etc. Upon arrival at your Walt Disney World Resort, check at the front desk to see what activities will be offered on Halloween Day or throughout your stay.

Head to the parks in your Halloween costume and have fun - Ever feel jealous of the 3 and 4 year old little girls that are allowed to run around Walt Disney World wearing Cinderella or Princess Aurora's beautiful dress? Here is your chance! You can dress up like any of your favourite characters on Halloween day, run through the parks, ride all the rides, get photos taken of you and your favourite princess wearing the same dress...and no one will batt an eye at you. Take advantage of this rare opportunity of being able to dress up and truly act like a kid! With all the activities that Walt Disney World offers, Halloween will never be the same!

Thanks for another great article! My family absolutely loves the Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. We've gone to it at least once each year for the last four years. We even went twice in the same week this year. It was so much fun!
