Halo 3 Bashers

Jon Sugi
I was reading an earlier article about someone who thinks Halo 3 is one of the biggest over hyped games. And the article talked about Halo in a very downward sense. I was rather surprised about how the author was talking about Halo as if it were some big knock off game. For those of us who play Halo on console and PC there are some factors about Halo that changed the gaming universe.

First of all Halo was one of the greatest and most revolutionary FPS games for a console. The only great FPS games before Halo would have to have been Bond 007 and Perfect Dark for the N64. Other than those games, the FPS genre was completely in the PC gamer's hands. Halo brought something to the console player that was actually worth playing.

Secondly Halo took multiplayer games to a whole new level for the console. Sure computer players could have a LAN party with most any game. The computer was made for multiplayer capability. But if you really thing about it there wasn't much of a LAN network for console gamers. Halo changed that as well.

I can remember those nights with sixteen players, drinking Mountain Dew and eating pizza or Chinese food. The one thing that did bug me about the article against the hype of Halo was the Microsoft marketing thoughts. The article stated that Microsoft had enough marketing dollars to pay off the writers reviewing the game and push the marketing of the game to the players.

UI will agree that there were many, and I mean many ads and marketing ploys to sell this game. However, for those of us who remember the original Xbox and its release, Halo was the only game to play. The original console sucked, it took forever to load, the controller was too heavy and huge. Most of all the games available for the Xbox were terrible. For thew time they may have been cool, but none of them were as fun as Halo. And the other thing for me was that I didn't play Halo until a year had passed since its release. Then I got hooked, but it took a while for me to get my hands on the game.

Halo 2 was the whole new level of multiplayer gaming since Xbox live had come out. When Xbox live was released I thought it was a waste of time and money. Then Halo 2 was brought to the table. And Halo 2 sold a million copies on the first day. I played with people for England the first night at my friend's house. Anf this year I'm going back to play online with the same people three years later. I must say Halo may get lots of hype. But not all of it comes from the writers and reviewers of the game.

I have heard more hype from my friends and other gamers than what I have read. I don't think Halo 3 is overhyped. I think it is getting talked about and people are getting really excited. We are excited about the new weapons, levels and character development. Who really cares if people are talking up the game. I am positive it will be amazing and well worth the price. The game itself is not the only part of the fun. It is the people you meet and get to play with. And the new friends you will make at tournaments or online.

I 110% agree. Halo is revolutionary and the other critics should probably play it first before bashing it. Heck, even my parents like Halo. They can't play worth a crap, but they like it.

The game is very fun..multiplayer is awesome and gives you ALOT of amazing tools but i still don't see how the game is revolutionary..maybe Halo was but I never really understood the hype. Multiplayer is awesome but for some reason it seems to get boring faster than most games online we play. I still play Halo 3 online more than anyother game so far and im loving the tools you get. It is worth the price..it's one of the few games worth $60 for change.
