Halo 3: Keep it Clean Announced - Campaign Expansion / New Game

Bungie Finally Reveal a Part of Its Future.

Jamie Williams
Bungie have finally pulled back the curtain on one of its three projects that it has underway. While two of them are a complete mystery, bar one of them being a new IP, this one was originally set to be revealed at the end of Microsoft's E3 2008 Press Briefing, but was infamously canceled because Microsoft felt that the conference was already stacked and wanted to cut down the length of the press conference. Microsoft's Don Mattrick revealed this, and also revealed that Bungie was working on a new Halo game that was unrelated to Halo Wars or Halo: Chronicles. The Bungie website had also been taken over by a mysterious entity called the Superintendent ( who is now the face and symbol of this new game ) and a countdown clock appeared. It was all one big mess. But that was then. Enter 9/25/08, the one year anniversary of Halo 3, and we have our announcement.

This had to be the most confusing teaser ever.

Details are extremely vague and in Bungie fashion asks more than it answers, but the trailer takes place from the view of security cameras around a very clean looking New Mombasa, including the superintendent, with thousands of falling ODST pods coming down to the city, just as a Covenant ship enters slip space and destroys the city. Amidst all of this is the superintendent going haywire, very fast seemingly random text including as of time of writing-controversial ' Maddie, where are you ? ' the date 1/6/09 , Sierra 117, and more. We finish with glimpses of the Halo 3 logo, and finally the words ' Prepare To Drop ! '.

These events as you may recall happened in Halo 2. The obvious theory ? Were getting a new game that takes place in the very recent Halo time line, the events of Halo 2, but with ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) instead of the Master Chief, which has been heavily rumored and is now all but certainly true.

We can assume its called Halo 3: Keep it Clean, due to a graphic on Bungie's website ( pictured in the article ) , and a glimpse of the Halo 3 logo in the trailer. The Xbox 360 Marketplace text for the trailer ( called Halo 3: Keep it Clean ) also reads " High action and deep mystery await players in this new Halo 3 campaign experience. Prepare to Drop! "

The more I watch the trailer, the more excited I am, and the better it gets. The Halo 3 branding cheapens it slightly, making it seem like an expansion, which could have been avoided if it had a new Halo name. But we don't know anything yet, weather it truly is an expansion to Halo 3, a new game, DLC, whatever ! One things for sure. Its coming. Keep it Clean !
