We start with the graphics. The original Halo has good graphics; everything runs smooth and looks great. It's easy to get lost looking at the scenery and exploring the levels instead of completing your mission objectives. All in all the graphics are some of the best Xbox has to offer. However exploring does you no good and there's not much hidden around the game. Halo 2 has much more to offer in this way. Hidden around the game are many strange and interesting sites. One cool feature is the hidden skulls scattered through the various levels. I don't know how many there are but each one has something they do, for example in the second level right off the bat you can find one that removes the aiming sites and your guns so you can't tell where you're shooting. It doesn't help you in the game, but gives you an additional challenging, plus it's something interesting to look for. The graphics are just as good and maybe better. So in this category I have to say the first point goes for......Halo 2

Next let's look at the weapons in the two games. In Halo 1 the weapons are all great, from the shotgun to the rocket launcher, and can be used in short and midrange combat, however the sniper rifle proves to be the only long range weapon showcased in the game. Even the shotgun can be used at mid range and become effective doing massive damage when used correctly.
Now in Halo 2 the SMG falls short in comparison to the first games machine gun and the same goes for the shotgun. However the ability to use two weapons at once is an awesome addition and adds to the games overall quality. Also the newest weapons like the Covenant Energy Sword and the Covenant Sniper Rifle are welcomed. It was always annoying in the first game when you would kill a Covenant Swordsmen and be unable to obtain their weapon. You may be thinking Halo 2 wins but there's a gun in the first game. A horrible gun, possibly the most powerful gun ever created, the pistol or Magnum from the original game. This beastly weapon can kill you before you even know what hit you, and can be used at close and mid-range but also the magnum can zoom into 2x scope, giving you the ability to snipe a sniper. With this gun you hold the power to destroy the world so the winner of this category .... Is Halo 1
Halo original points 1 Halo 2 points 1
This is the final round and many points are given here in the bones round. 1 point is awarded to Halo 2 for the addition of Xbox live enhancing gaming drastically. Also 1 point to Halo 2 for all the fantastic upgrades put into the game, like the new vehicles, weapon variety, and of course being able to use two guns at the same time. The original Halo will also score one more for the infinite grenade option on multiplayer. This feature was sorely missed in the custom game creator in Halo 2. So the final score is..... Halo original points 2 Halo 2 points 3
The winner is Halo 2
With Halo 3 coming out I thought it would be good to review the games that started it all. I hope Halo 3 will have the best of both games. The guns of Halo 1 and some from Halo 2 and all of the additions and up grades of Halo 2 and of course the ability to duel wield. So as we wait for the summer release of Bungie's new title we can only wonder what surprises are in store for the gaming community.
