Browsing around in my favorite store;
Not looking to buy a thing;
Just wanting a little fresh air;
And some quality time for me;
On a hidden shelf;
Buried under several stuffed toys;
I found an antique Native American doll,
Whom I have named "Halona";
Her name means, "Of Happy Fortune";
She was born in the 1960's;
She is made of plastic;
Her eyes open and close;
She is dressed in real buckskin;
Hand beaded and dyed green;
Her hair is banded in colored leather;
She is carrying a little baby on her back;
I have named the baby, "Ayashe";
This is Chippewa meaning "Little One";
I took some photographs;
So I can share my "Happy Fortune";
With all of you;
Have a blessed day, everyone!

Post a CommentHI! your doll is incredible. If you havnt noticed im named Halona as well. its interesting to see that im not as unusually named as i thought hehe.
Love it !....................I'm glad you introduced us to little "Ms. Halona".................
This poem is fascinating! I love antique dolls. When In was teaching lower elementary children, I often decorated with dolls for my multicultural unit. I found some beautiful Native American Dolls in thrift shops and their clothing looked like authentic copies of traditional Native American clothing. The children loved the dolls.
