I just bought this a week ago, and have already used it more that I used my old blender in the past year. I love this thing. It is a 12 speed blender, that has a new patented wave action technology that pulls the liquid down toward the blades, making for a smoother blend, and no ice chunks. I have to admit I was quite skeptical at first, because you know as well as I do, they all say they blend smoothly with no leftover chunks, but for the most part, its not true.
It comes in white or black, so it will be compatible with most kitchen decor. It has a drink dispensing nozzle on the front, which I find quite handy. I don't know about you. But I have a tendency to pour as much on the counter top as I do in the glass when using a conventional blender. So for me, the spigot is a wonderful bonus.
There are several different levels of this blender ranging from $30 to $70. I bought a mid range one. It ran me about $45. But when you stop and consider that a milkshake is going to cost you about $3.50 and a smoothie from the place in the mall is going to cost you anywhere from $3 to $6, it really will pay for itself in no time, if you are as addicted to frozen drinks. And that isn't even taking into consideration the easy $7 you would spend for a frozen alcoholic beverage at most restaurants. And I am telling you, the quality is as good as what you get in those places.
I have made milkshakes, smoothies, and I admit it even a margarita. They all turned out wonderfully. No big ice chunks, or unblended surprises to ruin the experience. I even used it to make up a quick puree of mixed fruit for the baby for breakfast this morning. Typically I use my food processor, but I will tell you now, the cleanup on the Hamilton Beach Wave Station was a lot quicker than what it takes to clean up after the food processor.
If your are looking for a smoothie machine or a blender that is effective, and not extremely expensive, look no further. For that matter if you are looking to save on space and condense these appliances into one. This machine is versatile, and looks great too. I highly recommend it, and I can see it being a gift for some lucky family members in the near future.
