Amateur radio communications plays a unique and much-needed service. This is very evident in crisis situations. Thinking back on the recent tornadoes in Joplin and Sedalia, MO the significance of this communication was priceless.
There is a chance for you to see what "ham" radio is capable of doing.
WHAT: The Raytown Amateur Radio Club participates in the Annual Field Day exercises
WHEN: June 25/26 (Saturday and Sunday)
WHEN: Call for exact time
WHERE: Behind the Raytown City Hall at 1000 E. 59th St.
ADMISSION: Free and open to the public

HIGHLIGHTS:
Radio stations from all over North America will participate
They will showcase what amateur radio is able to do in different situations
They will demonstrate how they are able to communicate during times of a crisis
The Raytown Club will set up and operate stations that utilize voice, Morse code, vhf, and satellite communication
During these exercises the clubs will demonstrate how well they are able to contact stations as well as their ability to show their radio's capabilities
Raytown has done itself proud by placing in the top 25 stations out of 2,000 to 3,000 clubs that will participate on a national level. It is the largest operation in Missouri and the Midwest.
This is not an activity that you see up close and personal on a regular basis. Why not take advantage of it when you can? With so many participants they will be sure to "ham" it up for you.
