Hampton Inn Hotels: Affordable and Relaxing

Erin Duff
In the summer of 2005, I found myself traveling several times to see my husband, who was being deployed to Iraq. He had three months of training at Camp Atterbury in Indiana, so I would drive seven hours one-way to see him as often as I could. Obviously, I needed a hotel. I had stayed in various Hampton Inn hotels throughout my travels before, and had always been impressed. I decided to stay at the Hampton Inn in Edinburgh, IN, less than ten minutes away from where my husband was in training.

Being comfortable while away from home is a very important thing, whether you're in your hotel for the majority of your day (as I sometimes was, due to ever-changing military scheduling) or only to sleep at night. I was able to book the hotel during several occasions, and was impressed with the politeness of the staff and accommodations made. One such accommodation was that I always received a military discount, which allowed me to stay in my room for approximately $79/night. If you don't have a military discount, it's typically $99/night, depending upon where and when you visit.

I was exhausted from my trip, and was happy with the hotel's quick check-in. My room was clean and comforting, and as soon as I laid on the bed, I was immediately relaxed. The décor of the room included a darker motif, as the linens and curtains were black and tan, with art hung along the walls. I had a large dresser, desk (with Internet access), small table, and comfortable chair. I had enough room to stay for a week, without worrying about keeping everything in my suitcase. My environment was inviting, which made my stay that much more worry-free.

The Hampton Inn, Edinburgh also provided a rather large free breakfast buffet, which included eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, muffins, fresh fruit, pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, and bagels, among other rotating food items. I was able to have a full breakfast, and was very satisfied with the quality and taste of the food provided. There were also "to-go" bags by the check-out desk that included fruit, a muffin, and other various snacks to get you going on a busy morning. I made use of both options, and was very happy with what was available.

The Hampton Inn also had a small gym and indoor pool, which I frequented often throughout my stay. Both were clean and well-kept, and were an added bonus. Laundry services were available, along with a small laundry area (one washer and one dryer), which I used as well.

The check-out at the hotel was also a very simple process, as your receipt is placed under your door the morning you check-out. There's no need to stop at the desk, instead, it's all done for you before you even wake-up!

The Hampton Inn is located approximately 45 minutes away from Indianapolis, which was where my husband and I were able to spend some time during our stay. It was also directly next to the Edinburgh Premium Outlets, which has 85 outlet stores. Needless to say, this provided us with several hours of entertainment! There are restaurants of all kinds within 15 minutes from the hotel, and we were very happy with our options while staying there. There is even a wine vineyard about 20 minutes away called Simmons Winery, which gave us a tour of their vineyards and facility, along with a wine-tasting.

Because of my good experiences with the Hampton Inn hotels, I have made this my first option when traveling. We have stayed in Hampton Inn hotels in Utah, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and Georgia, and I was very satisfied with all of my experiences. The Hampton Inn has proven to be an inexpensive option while traveling, while allowing us to have a piece of luxury and relaxation along the way.
