Han Van Meegerin Interviews Kayla Wardlow

Kayla Wardlow and the Race to 20,000 Page Views: #1

Han Van Meegerin
  1. What was your initial reaction to the concept of a page view race?
Ooh, fun! I have a buried competitive spirit. It only comes out when I hear race, or contest, lol.

2. When the page view race started, what did you expect your chances to be in winning the Race to 20,000 Page Views: #1?

I actually expected Karen or Shelly to take it, but I was in third, so I thought I had a good shot.

3. When the page view race started, what did you expect your chances to be in gaining the most page views, during the contest period?

The first time my page views for one day hit above 1,000, I thought I might stand a chance. Before that, I was just participating, lol.

4. Did you find it fun to participate in the page view race?

Yes! It was fun to cheer on everyone else, and I think it brought people new subscribers, plus I found a lot of new people whose articles I hadn't yet stumbled across.

5. Did you find it motivational to participate in the page view race?

Yes, lol. It made me look for new ways to bring in the page views. One or two were successful and I probably wouldn't have tried them if not for the contest.

6. Did you think that the slideshow updates were informative and helpful?

Definitely. First, I know the pictures are always reset during updates, so I know you put a lot of hard work into them. Thanks! It was also fun to watch the progress, and root everyone on when the updates came in.

7. Did you that the narrative updates were enjoyable to read and helpful?

Karen said they read like a Kentucky Derby narrative, and I agree. It was fun, and a good way to keep track of everyone's place. Thanks for putting the effort in! It's great to read articles, I'm always learning something from them, but you bring AC writers to everyone's attention with your interviews and contests, so it also introduced me to people I haven't read before.

8. Did you think the race succeeded in its attempt to promote friendly and supportive competition or do you feel like the race turned out to be a cut throat competition that became hostile and negative?

I don't think anyway became hostile or negative. Judging by the comments on the narrative and the slideshow, everyone was really supportive, and I hope they had fun as well.

9. How do you feel winning both the race to 20,000 page views and having the most page views during the competition? Do you value one victory more than the other?

I didn't expect either, so it's very cool to win both. I will value them equally, as soon as I get over the shock of it, lol.

10. What can you say about the other Associated Content Contributor's in the race?

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I have a few faves of course, but everyone had some great articles! If you aren't reading everyone on the list, definitely check them out!

11. Do you agree that it looks like there are still a number Associated Content Contributors in the race that still have an opportunity to get to 20,000 page views either 2nd or 3rd?

Yup! Karen and Shelly are in 2nd and 3rd, but Rachel and Kristen are gaining fast. It's still anyone's game, and I guess you never know what will happen. Good luck to everyone!

12. Are you glad that you are participating in the Race to 50,000 Page Views: #1?

Now I am. I initially signed up, thinking I was playing way too big for my current progress, but I surprised myself. I don't expect to win, lol, but it's still alot of fun, and it keeps my competitive edge going.

13. Do you think it is likely or unlikely that you will participate in any other page
view races?

Well, if the page views keep going the way they are, I might be able to go for the other ones. Even if they don't, it might keep me motivated by joining, lol.

14. Would you recommend to others Associated Content Contributors that they participate in page view races?

Indeed I would. One of my favorite things to do on AC is read other peoples articles. This not only introduced me to people I haven't read (and are now on my favorites list), but gained a few readers for me as well. It was also a genuinly fun "competition".

15. Are there any other comments that you would like to make regarding Race to 20,000 Page Views: #1?

Thanks again for this contest Han, I'll still be rooting everyone on to 20,000. Trust me, it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling to reach a milestone, lol.
