Last week, my daughter was invited to attend a skating party at the "Skating in the Sky" ice skating rink located in the John Hancock Building at 875 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood. I didn't even know that the Hancock housed a skating rink, but when I saw it, I was astounded. The rink is 900-square feet and all the ice is made from a synthetic substance, but you would never know. The view is absolutely breathtaking, because the rink is surrounded by ceiling to floor windows.

From the ice rink, you have this amazing view of the Chicago Skyline, and although the space is big, and it's chilly inside, the atmosphere is actually quite cozy. While at the party, the kids were treated to panini sandwiches and ice skates were provided for the kids who didn't have any.

Although the adults didn't skate, I think we had just as much, or even more fun than the kids had. I know that renting the rink costs a pretty penny, and runs about $2,500 for two hours, and if you want an extension, it will set you back $1,000 for every additional hour, according to the host of the party.
