Handmade Bracelets Are a Girl's Best Friend

All Must-Have Accessories Don't Always Have to Be Store-bought

Wherever and whenever I go, my accessory side-kick is always a handmade bracelet. Without these beaded accessories dangling upon my wrist as I begin any day, I can feel completely naked. There is just something about the jingle-jangle, the colored and various size of the beads, and how I always seem to have a different one to match all of my outfits.

While some girls may favor a colorful fashion scarf, a set of fancy dangling earrings or that favorite pair of skinny jeans, I am happy with one of my handmade bracelets. The best thing about this unique accessory, is that most of the time-there won't be any others that are exactly like it.

As I begin the creation of my handmade bracelets, there is a soothing and calming feeling that runs through my veins as I gather my hands through the beads. The imagination and story begins way before the bead is strung onto its string. Before the stringing process begins, I like to picture the outfit or outfits that this bracelet will match, and perhaps events that I may wear it too as well. Then I will find something to inspire its design and color-whether it be the puffy white clouds in the blue sky, the way the waves rock on the ocean with the multicolors of blue and white, or the beauty and colors of nature out in my yard or in the forest.

Even though my bracelets aren't expensive, a name brand or have been purchased at a retail store, it doesn't make them any less special. All of the beads have either been handmade or purchased at craft and hobby stores. As an artist, I can spend hours walking and dreaming down an aisle full of beads that are of various shapes, designs and colors. In these aisles are where some of my best inspirations have been born.

During a work day or just out with friends or family, I often receive many compliments about the bracelets that adorn my wrist. I enjoy telling others how I made them myself or the stores of where I purchased the beads at. Many will find it surprising that I didn't purchase it somewhere else, and that I took the time to make it as well. Those who know me well, will come to know all of my handmade creations and know better to ask which store I purchased my bracelet at. More often, I may have a friend request that I make one for her.

Handmade bracelets allow me to tell and share stories... While fashion bracelets purchased at a retail store can have just as a wonderful of a story about where it was bought or if it was a gift-handmade bracelets bring something a little bit more special to the table. A handmade bracelet is a creation all of your own and not just something pulled off a sales rack. Each bead was picked and strung by myself, and the design was inspired by something special or an event that is a part of my every day life.
