Handmade Christmas Gifts for Adults

D.K. Bernhard
Adults are some of the most difficult people to shop for, but why shop if you do not have to? You can make a number of thoughtful and customized gifts for adults, man and woman alike, that will be more thoughtful and far less expensive than purchasing them. It is easier than you think!

Etched wine glasses or beer mugs

Do the adults in your life like to drink the occasional glass of wine, or do they like beer? Well, either way you can easily create the perfect customized gift for that couple in your life. Buy a pair of plain, glass wine goblets or beer mugs (or better yet, one of each)! You should also purchase some reusable, adhesive backed stencils (or cut your own from vinyl or contact paper) and some etching cream, or a sand etch blaster. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for either the abrasive or cream etching instructions, and you have some personalized gifts for those drink connoisseurs in your life. This is a project that literally takes under ten minutes from start to end, and the etching cream, abrasive media, and stencils are all reusable, so this is the gift that can be given many times over for one expense.

Pre made scrap book pages

Is the couple you are getting gifts for avid shutter bugs, or do they just have a lot of pictures of their children, a certain vacation or cruise, or just each other but are not crafty enough to make a scrap book, and just have a pile of photos sitting in boxes? Well why not make some pre made scrap book pages for them, where all they would need to do is put photo corners on the pictures they want to display, and then add them to your pre made pages? This is a great gift for the adults, but also the whole family.

Photo coasters

Using some inexpensive supplies can create some awesome photo coasters to protect the recipient's wood furniture from drink condensation rings. Buy some small marble (or other material) tiles from The Home Depot or another hardware or home store, and put a sized to fit picture on each one, keeping in place with some double sided tape. Add a layer of clear coat, or a polyurethane, or even mod podge around the photo and the top of the tile. Fine inexpensive rubber 'feet' for the coaster, and you have a great gift that will help this family remember special moments or people forever.
