The first gift is very simple but will probably bring the best positive reaction of all the listed gifts. It is a poem. The poem can be written by you or you can use romantic lyrics from a favorite song that you know your valentine will love. Presentation of the poem is the key to this gift. Type the poem out in your word processing program. Choose an elegant font to use. For an added touch you can add the date you plan on presenting the gift at the end of the poem. Print the poem out on fancy parchment. You can either frame the poem or just roll it up and fasten it with a red satin ribbon.
The second gift would be perfect for the book lover. This gift would be ideal for a student to give to their teacher on Valentines Day. It is a bookmark. This will be made unique and elegant. It is made of beads. You will need a fancy charm, gold colored beads, imitation pearl beads and either 24 inches of fishing line or flexible beading wire. Double the wire or line in half and using a slip knot fasten the fancy charm to the line center. Thread the beads the full length of the remaining doubled 12 line. Secure the end and you have a fancy bookmark. All the supplies can be bought at the local craft store or at the craft section at the local Walmart.
Since it is still winter the third gift would be great for either a boy/man or girl/woman. It is a lap or stadium blanket. You make it out of fleece material which commonly costs about $3 to $6 a yard. The big plus is that you don't have to sew anything. You buy the size you want and trim the edges. Fleece fabric doesn't unravel when cut and you don't need to sew a hem around it. Fleece also comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns so you can choose one that your intended Valentine will like. You can find fleece fabric at the local fabric store.
Food is always a welcome gift on Valentine's Day especially if made by you. If you have a talent for cooking think about "crafting" a gift out of food or even a whole meal. The fourth item on my list is food and if contains sugar or chocolate you have a winner. This gift should only be made for someone close to you that trusts your cooking. You would feel terrible if you found out that the food gift was dumped due to the person receiving it did not trust your cooking.
On the last gift idea you can cheat a little. Buy a pre-made item such as sweatshirt, T-shirt or ball cap. A solid not a patterned color. Next you will need liquid colored fabric pens. You can buy them at any craft store. Make sure they are made for fabric and they are machine washable. Next go to town decorating your pre-made item. You can either make it highly embarrassing to wear or something they will love to wear so think about what you will put on it before you commit the pen to the fabric. As an added touch you can buy a baby size sweatshirt or T-shirt, decorate it and put it on a teddy bear as a gift.
So there you have a simple easy to make Valentine's Day gift list.

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day outside of North America? I didn't know it had gone international now.
Great ideas, you shouldn't have to spend a fortune to please someone you love, especially such a short time after Christmas; the hardest thing left now is find someone to give them to! (Well, I guess it's going to be a chocolate cake for the children again!)
Good ideas. :)
