Handmade Valentine's Day Gifts Any Guy Can Do

Claudette Ellyse
I think there might be some of you guys out there that are really at a loss as to what to get your girlfriends for Valentine's Day this year. Some of you might have read my article on unconventional gifts and for whatever reasons those didn't seem feasible. Have you thought about making something? I promise that it is easier than it sounds.

I plan on giving some ideas on handmade Valentine's Day gifts that any guy can do. Your girlfriend will be impressed with your ingenuity and hard work. I know I would enjoy any gift that was handmade for me.

Rather than going to the florist and buying a bouquet of flowers, why not hand make some? That bouquet bought at the florist will not last forever. But handmade origami flowers will last as long as they are taken care of.

Here are a few great websites where you can find some free origami patterns for patterns.

These sites will show you exactly how to fold the paper to make these beautiful handmade origami flowers. Speaking of paper, you can pick up origami paper at any craft store. Just go in and ask for it and pick out your girlfriend's favorite color. If you aren't sure of her favorite color, red or pink is always a good idea.

Once you get as many origami flowers made as you want, I would recommend purchasing an inexpensive vase and fill it up with those handmade flowers. Just make sure the vase coordinates with the color of paper you used to make the flowers. If all else fails, use clear! Here is also link to a diagram on how to make an origami vase if you feel up to it. http://www.fishgoth.com/origami/diagrams/vase.pdf

Both of the next suggestions for handmade Valentine's Day gifts might seem a little high school to some, but if done properly they will simply be romantic. The easier of the two is a mixed CD.

Here are some links to some lists of romantic love songs.

Take a look at the songs on those websites and see which ones speak about the woman you love. Try to pick songs you think she will like. You can easily purchase these songs on sites that sell mp3s or you can try to stick to love songs you already own.

My last suggestion is a fairly simple one. It is making a photo album. If you have been in this relationship for any length of time, you will probably have tons of pictures. Here is what you can do to create a great handmade Valentine's photo album.

Go through the pictures you two have. Make sure to select pictures that are of you and preferably ones that have romantic ties to them. You can find inexpensive photo albums at most large stores or smaller specialty shops. I would recommend making a little sheet to put in the first page. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just make sure you include your names and the date. It also might be nice to include a quote about love on it. Just to make it special. You can either use lyrics to a love song or a quote from this site. http://www.lovepoemsandquotes.com/

Giving your girlfriend a handmade Valentine's Day gift this year is not going to be as hard as you think. With my suggestions, you should easily be able to surprise her and show her how much you love and appreciate her. With these gifts, she will be the envy of all of her friends because of all of the time you have put into it. Give it a try!

  • Have you thought about handmaking your gift for your Valentine?
  • Handmake her some flowers that will last much longer than those bought at the florist.
  • Make her the envy of her friends, with your handmade and thoughtful gifts.
