Are you tired of your shop-vac head being suctioned to the floor? Here is an easy solution. Simply take 2 wooden dowels, or two small pieces of wood, and glue them to the bottom of the head of the vacuum. (See diagram)
The wooden pieces keep the vacuum head from being suctioned to the floor, and are small enough to not interfere with the ability to clean. Replace wooden dowels when they wear out. You can also do this to your home sweeper head attachment.
This is a very easy and cost effective solution.
