Hang onto Your Wallets in Fort Greene

November has been a rough month for the wallet-carrying public in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn.

A 70-year-old woman's wallet was swiped on two separate occasions and reported on November 1. The first incident was at the grocery store on Atlantic Avenue near Flatbush on September 9 followed by the second theft on October 23. Wondering why it took her so long to report the crimes?

Hopefully your mother taught you to watch out for pick-pockets. Around 10:00 AM on November 2, a stealthy thief lifted a straphanger's wallet from her purse as she got off the B38 bus on Fulton Street between Hudson and Rockwell Place.

At the Clinton-Washington subway station, which has recently gotten a bad rap for a string of crimes, a 25-year-old male suspect attacked a woman as she approached the G train platform at 11:40 PM on November 3. He pulled her hair, placed a knife at her throat, and then proceeded to demand her cell phone, wallet, and silence. She complied but the thug didn't make it very far - he was arrested shortly thereafter.

On November 5, a punk with a similar MO attacked a male victim on the corner of Fulton and Grand shortly after 7:00 PM. The thug roughed up the victim by elbowing him in the face before forcing him to hand over his wallet.
