I don't know if I have this title right or not. Maybe it's Drawn, Hung and Quartered. It really doesn't matter much. Whoever it happens to is going to be well dead by the time it's over.
The wife and I were discussing this the other day and of course we came to the conclusion that we should maybe revisit this form of punishment.
I lost the article, but in our town there was a young man who played good Samaritan to some people who were being accosted on one of our downtown streets. For his trouble, he was stabbed and had severe enough injuries that put him in a coma for 4 months. He has had numerous operations to bring him back to health, most of them being brain surgeries. He has lost a great deal of his skull, been put through many skin grafts and is still a long way from being fully recuperated. He was your basic vegetable when he came out of the coma, and has made amazing strides since waking up.
His assailant is still unknown and police are asking help to try to nail this scum. The Samaritan has applied for, and after 4 years, received compensation from our generous Victims Comp Board. Twenty two some odd hundred dollars. Twenty grand in punitive damages, two grand some odd hundred for lost wages. The guy can't even walk on his own yet, but this is what our government thinks is fair compensation. Disgusting.
The whole thing came about as I was rereading a blog from a friend. His oldest daughter was whacked on the head, raped and then strangled shortly after her 15th birthday. He wrote a blog about capital punishment and wondered if the killer should be given a choice on how to die. His daughter's killer is rotting in San Quentin and I got to wondering whether or not this was the right sentence. He killed two other people the same way, from what I can ascertain. Why he didn't get the death penalty is beyond me.
But back to being hung, drawn and quartered. First of all, let's get rid of the notion of hanging the culprit. We want the bastard to suffer a little bit. Keep him alive. We watched a show the other day that explained the procedure.
First, the scum is drawn. This entails eviscerating him and burning his entrails while he watches. He's still alive at this point, although a bit uncomfortable, mind you. Then his various limbs, yes that one too, are tied to horses that are sent off in various directions. Quartered. I suppose we could use a pony for that little bit that he thought made him a big man.
Pretty gruesome, I admit, and certainly not something that will sit well with the 'hug-a-thug' set. It is but one option.
We can learn a lot from the Muslims. A friend at work sent me a video of one way they deal with rapists over in Iraq or Iran or Afghanistan, or any other Muslim country where they deal with a crime in the 'eye-for-an-eye' manner. The video shows a man being dragged into a public arena, kicking and screaming. I would too if I knew what was coming. They drag him up to a mound of wood and pull his pecker out. As he screams, a sword flashes, his pee-pee is now over there and he is bleeding way over here. I suppose the comment here would be, "Let's see you rape someone else now.", or, "Good luck trying to use the women's john, you perv."
Still pretty harsh maybe, but the sucker at least is still alive (something the Dems want to see) but he'll never rape another female (something the Reps want to see) as long as he lives.
Maybe we can work something out here?

Post a CommentYup, old age will do it, but I get impatient. I wish we had the death penalty over here.
