Visitors coming to Mobile Alabama will have a new exhibit to explore on the grounds of Hank Aaron Stadium, which is the home of the Mobile Baybears.

On Wednesday April 14, 2010 the boyhood home of Hank Aaron will become a lasting legacy to the great Hall of Famer when it opens its doors for the first time to the public. In 2008 the home, which had been located on Edwards Avenue in Mobile Alabama, was moved the Hank Aaron Stadium where the Baybears play.

Renovations have been going on since then and the official opening of the Hank Aaron Childhood Home and Museum is set to coincide with the first home game of the Baybears season.

The grand opening will be attended by many Hall of Fame greats including Ozzie Smith, Bob Feller, Rickey Henderson and Bruce Sutter as well as Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig and Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson.

Spearheaded by Bill Shanahan and Mike Callahan, the Baybears have taken responsibility for the renovation and everyone is anxiously anticipating the opening. The Aaron family donated the home to the city. It was then moved to the stadium that bears his name.

The house will showcase highlights from Aaron's outstanding career as well has his homelife and childhood.

Aaron will attend the celebration with his wife Billye, his brother James and sister Alfredia. Also attending wil be officials from the Arizona Diamondbacks including owner and general partner Ken Kendrick, president and CEO Derrick Hall and general manager Josh Byrnes, special assistant to the president Luis Gonzalez and special assistant to the president Roland Hemond. Also attending will be Minor League Baseball president Pat O'Connor and Southern League president Don Mincher.
