Hannah Montana Concert Review, Washington D.C.

The $300 Nap

What a night. My head is still thumping, I'm not sure if it was from the loud music or all of the young kids screaming. I'm sure many of the kids who went back to school today won't be talking much. (Sore throats and lack of sleep)

Let me start by saying I'm a mom in my thirties and my honest review of the concert is that "It rocked!".

We had excellent seats. We were very fortunate and purchased our tickets at face value. We had all but given up hope when an excellent opportunity came along for us.

Let me start by saying that I didn't know what pre-sale tickets meant. I knew that presale tickets were being released on a certain day before the concert and that they were only available online. (I thought that meant anyone with Internet access could purchase them - WRONG-O). After consulting with a friend that morning that was going to buy tickets for her daughters, I found out that for the presale of the tickets you needed to be a Miley Cyrus fanclub member. Once you're a member they'll e-mail you a unique code that you can use to claim up to 4 tickets at www.ticketmaster.com during the special sale. On a whim that night I joined the club to find all of the tickets gone. We spent $30 to become fan club members for a chance to buy tickets. Now let me say that the site did say that all members would not be able to get tickets, just a better chance at getting them. To be honest, I didn't expect much since I had waited so late to join the club so it wasn't a major disappointment. I chalked it up to $30 for a year at a website my daughter could enjoy.

Ticket release day - MAJOR disappointment. My husband and I were both on the computers and I was also on the phone before the tickets went on sale. We tried for 30 minutes straight to find out that the show had been sold out with-in minutes.

We had all but given up hope when out of the blue we received an e-mail from the fan club stating that they had more tickets to be released and since we were members of the club we had another chance at getting the tickets. The day they went on sale "again", my husband and I were both at the computers again. I selected "best available" for my seating choice hoping for a nosebleed seat, thinking that's all that could possibly be left. We wound up with floor seats, a few rows back centered in front of the stage.

We were in utter disbelief when we walked to our seats. We couldn't believe how are lucked had turned around. We had excellent views of the Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana.

The concert was excellent. The Jonas Brothers opened the show and they were bursting of energy. I hate to admit this because we love Hannah Montana but we really enjoyed the Jonas Brothers portion of the show more than her portion. I think it may have to do with the fact that she was feeling poorly. She apologized over and over for feeling badly. I have to commend her on putting on such a show and then being sick on top of it. She is an excellent performer and you can tell she put everything into it. She tried so hard not to disappoint her fans. I don't think she let anyone down. You should have seen all the "happy" children leaving the place and all of the "tired" parents dragging behind.

We took the metro from Alexandria to the Gallery stop and you can bet after the concert that it was packed. I have to say though; I think this was better than driving because of the crowds.

Now let me get to the $300 nap part of my article. The concert started at 7:00 The Jonas brothers played for about 35 minutes and then there was an intermission. The concert started back up with Hannah about 7:55. Our daughter started complaining about how tired she was becoming. We kept telling her hold on that this is the part she had came to see. Well we could tell she was fighting sleep and by the time Hannah became Miley, she was out cold. Through the screaming girls, fireworks and other sound effects, there our little princess was sleeping like an angel through everything. This is the same kid who stays up on weekends until about midnight. After Miley ended the concert and we were leaving, she finally woke up and told us that she had a good time. Ah, the joys of parenthood.
