'Hannah Montana Forever' Series Ends on Satisfying Note

Last night, Miley Cyrus' series, Hannah Montana Forever, aired its final episode.

This is truly the end of an era, as the Hannah Montana franchise has produced mega-hits such as Best of Both Worlds, True Friend and The Climb; sold-out concerts; and a blockbuster movie.

Regardless of what fans may think of Miley Cyrus and how far she has moved away from her squeaky-clean Hannah Montana image, the series itself ended on a satisfying note.

Warning: this article contains spoilers on the Hannah Montana Forever series finale.

In last night's episode of Hannah Montana Forever, Miley struggled with a pivotal decision: whether to star in a Steven Spielberg movie or attend Stanford University with her best friend, Lily (Emily Osment). The movie would have involved taking a year off to go to Paris.

Miley made the decision to star in the movie, but instead of telling Lily, she decided to behave as obnoxiously as possible so that Lily would not want to go to college with her. When Lily learned about the movie, she was understandably angry because Miley had lied to her, but the two girls made amends when Miley invited her to come to Paris.

At the airport, Oliver (Mitchel Musso) and Jesse (Drew Roy) made surprise appearances in order to say goodbye to their girlfriends in person. An off-handed comment from Oliver caused Lily to second-guess her decision to go to Paris.

Lily realized that she still wanted to go to Stanford. Miley and Lily began their separate lives, accompanied by Cyrus and Osment singing Wherever I Go. Miley finally showed up at Lily's door, explaining that while there will always be concerts and movies, she only has one chance to go to college with her best friend.

The Hannah Montana series finale also resolved a number of secondary story lines. Rico (Moses Arias) found Jackson (Jason Earles) a high-paying job as a video game tester, and they realized that despite the fighting, they were close friends. Miley and Jackson also realized that while they may torment each other, they had supported each other in the end.

The Hannah Montana series finale was satisfying. Miley Cyrus was able to move on from Hannah Montana in a way that was still respectful to the show and its characters. The finale paid fitting tribute to four seasons of great memories and great friends.

Hopefully Miley can break the Disney curse by making a successful transition into a mature career.
