While Miley Cyrus should not be denied the right to explore herself as an artist, she may want to reconsider her options. At 16 years old, it is unlikely that Justin Gaston is The One. If Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston break up, she will have a difficult time moving on if his initials are permanently etched into her body. If they are truly in love, then she should be able to find other ways to express that.
Much like hair or glasses, tattoos can forever alter the image of a celebrity. It is very difficult to imagine Tila Tequila without her many tattoos, including the prominent heart on her left arms. Likewise, it is hard to imagine Kelly Osbourne without her arm and anchor tattoo on her left arm as well as her other tattoos. Yet Tila Tequila's and Kelly Osbourne's tattoos at least represent who they are. Miley Cyrus's tattoo (if she gets one) will represent her boyfriend.

If life imitates art, then Miley Cyrus' situation is reminiscent of an episode of Hannah Montana (entitled Yet Another Side of Me) where pop star Isis pressured Hannah Montana to change her image. Fearing that audiences would grow tired of Hannah Montana, Miley mixed it up by experimenting with a rocker style. While the experiment turned out to be a disaster, Billy Ray Cyrus acknowledged that Hannah Montana is an artist and that she has the right to explore different musical styles.
Still, while artistic experimentation is part of a process, tattoos are a lifetime commitment. Hopefully Miley Cyrus and her parents will remember that while her relationship with Justin Gaston may be temporary, a tattoo is permanent.

I have many tattoos - being female, it's harder for people to accept. I have my daughter's name on me - and will have my mother and father as well. Names of significant others are even hard for the person NEXT in your life. I also think that Miley Cyrus is becoming the next Britney Spears. And I still cannot believe that her age, her parents are allowing her to date someone that is 20 - in some states, that is statutory rape.
yeah i got my first tattoo in my friends kitchen when i was 16 which was ridiculous and a massive regret. thank god its small. its a nice design, id still get it at my age now and im 20! but just not in someone's kitchen! and i know what i done was immensely stupid but i wouldnt dream of getting a boyfriend tattoo. it's tempting fate. and yeah, as for her disney shows, destroy them. disney is ruined these days.
NEVER, EVER get a boyfriend or girlfriend, husband or wifes name tattooed on you. Its total taboo!!! The only names you should EVER tattoo on yourself, is your parents, children, friends and family and unfortunately the ones who have passed on in our lives!! I got my 1st tattoo at 16 and now I HATE it!!
