Hanukkah for All

A Poem About Hanukkah

Jane Meyer
Hanukkah falls in December, when the weather gets cold
It's a favorite holiday for the young and the old

We celebrate the miracle of oil burning bright
The Maccabees needed it to burn and it did for eight nights

With dreidel games, latkes and gifts, we all celebrate
It's the one rare occasion when kids stay up late

The menorah is a symbol of oil burning eight nights
We use multi-colored candles to make sure it shines bright

In addition to the traditional prayers, songs and stories
We also celebrate by sharing gifts, food and toys
