Hanukkah Festivities in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul

Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins

Entertain your family with a bit of theatre this year. Put on by the Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company, this play is the winner of the prestigious of the 2009 Ivey Award. The Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company is known for putting on amazing plays, but Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins is by far the most popular. The play is highly interactive and involves excellent puppetry by the award winning Chris Griffith. The Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company is located on 1978 Ford Parkway in Saint Paul.

Minneapolis Institute of Art

Every year, the Minneapolis Institute of Art displays a variety of European period rooms decked out in festive furniture and antiques. These period rooms at the Minneapolis Institute of Art may include early Christmas trees and Nativity scenes, but also always feature multiple historical Hanukkah displays. Past Hanukkah period rooms at the Minneapolis Institute of Art include a 1770s Hanukkah celebration in Providence, Rhode Island and impressive Hanukkah lamp displays.

Family Shabbat Dinners

You can find good Shabbat dinners on just about every street corner during the Twin Cities Hanukkah season, but sometimes newcomers have trouble figuring out when and where these Shabbat dinners are happening. The Temple Israel Chanukah Nefesh Shabbat Family Service and Dinner is a favorite among families, as it involves cookie decorating and dreidel games. The Beth El Young Families Shabbat Dinner & Family Fun Time is also a great Twin Cities Hanukkah event for families to attend.

Twin Cities Jewbilee

For trendy Jewish adults looking to cap off their Twin Cities Hanukkah with a night on the town, the Jewish Community Action's Annual Jewbilee is just the ticket. The event is completely free to attend for anyone ages 21 and older. A generous portion of the bar proceeds is donated to Jewish Community Action, a valuable Jewish organization in the Twin Cities. Stop by for a huge buffet dinner, live music, DJs and dancing, and some amazing raffle prizes!
