Finding Inexpensive Hanukkah Gifts This Holiday Season

Jackson Lewis
Whether you are Jewish or have Jewish friends, a common dilemma is what to buy your family or friends for a Hanukkah gift. Many tweens and teens want what all teens and tweens desire for the holidays, however, a lot of times it is just nice to give something more grounded in the Jewish faith for your gift. The following are five inexpensive Hanukkah gift ideas for this Holiday season.

Handmade Glass Driedel

Driedel's have a long history in the Jewish faith. Used as a spinning top by children to play a game during Hanukkah, the online judaica-mall.com site has a very nice handmade glass Driedel for only $6.95. Designed by the artist Yair Emanuel, this driedel also comes with a matching clear glass base and is made in Israel. An extremely nice Hanukkah gift for the price $6.95 that would fit in anyone's budget!

Learning Cents Tzedakah Bank

In Judaism, the direction to give tzedakah (charity or justice) is intended to teach children to share with those in need and play a role in maolam). This innovative Tzedakah bank has three slots for the child's money to help re-enforce the idea that giving is a year-round activity, not just during the holidays. The manufacturer recommends having the child split their money in three ways in the bank, spending, saving, and for tzedakah. The bank comes in two colors, pink and blue and is for sale online at learningcents.com for only $20 and is a great Hanukkah gift idea for this Holiday season.

Cool Hanukkah T-Shirts

If you're looking for something a little nontraditional for a teen or 20-something for this Hanukkah season, RotemGear.com has some pretty neat Hanukkah gift ideas. The company specializes in Hebrew, Yiddish, Sephardic, and Urban Jewish t-shifts and other gifts. Some of the captions on the hottest selling shirts on the site are "Got Latkes" and "I can Has Latkes". Most of the shirts retail for $27.95, so if you're looking for something a little different this Hanukkah, this may be the site for you to visit. In case you are not familiar with latkes and are just looking to get a Jewish friend a neat gift, latkes are potato pancakes that are one of the foods associated with Hanukkah.

Hanukkah Hostess Gift Set

TraditionsJewishGifts.com has a neat Hanukkah hostess gift set that comes with: four ceramic Hanukkah mugs that are four inches tall along with a painted ceramic Menorah tidbit server. At only $25.95, this Hanukah gift idea is one that would be appreciated by anyone you choose to give it to.

Jewish Star Menorah Keepsake Box

Another very nice Hanukkah gift ideas from TraditionsJewishGifts.com is the Jewish Star Menorah Keepsake Box. This gift comes decorated with a star of David, Hanukkah Menorah, and is set with blue stones. A fairly small keepsake box, this is perfect to give to your niece or younger sister to hold a piece of jewelry or other small keepsakes. The keepsake box sells for $29.95 online though the site.

A great family gift for Chanukah is a game that the family can play together, and everyone equally enjoys - how rare is that? The best choice out there is Apples to Apples Jewish Edition. The junior version is great for any kids who can read through adults. For teens and adults, the 12+ version is perfect. It lasts all year long and encourages family fun. Plus, you can get one gift for the family instead of a lot of little chachkas. You can find the game online, or in Borders, select toy stores, or most Jewish book and gift stores.
