Happy Birthday Donald Duck!

Today we celebrate Donald Duck's birthday. His first cartoon, "The Wise Hen" debuted on June 9th, 1934, which makes him 76 years old. To help celebrate, here are a few fun facts about the lovable Donald Duck.

Donald's middle name is Fauntleroy, and he is a VIP member of the Mickey Mouse Club.

According to Disney, Donald's birthday is recognized as June 9, 1934, as per the 1942 short "Donald Gets Drafted", but in 1944's "The Three Caballeros", his birthday is given as Friday the 13th, and in the 1942's "Donald's Happy Birthday" his birthday occurs on March 13.

Donald first appeared in "The Wise Hen" in 1934, but he is first mentioned in a Disney storybook from 1931.

Donald's voice was performed by Clarence "Ducky" Nash up to his death in 1985. Since, 1985, Tony Anselmo has voiced the character.

Donna Duck was Donald's first love interest. She was introduced in January 9, 1937 in the cartoon "Don Donald".

In 1940, Daisy Duck replaced Donna in the cartoon "Mr. Duck Steps Out". They've been together ever since.

Huey, Dewey and Louie, Donald's nephews were introduced in the April 15, 1938 film, "Donald's Nephews".

Donald Duck is known for his short temper, bullying, stubbornness, pranks and ultimately his positive look on life.

Some of his most famous phrases are "What's the Big Idea?' and "Aw Phooey!".

Donald Duck is best friends with Mickey Mouse. Donald is also jealous of Mickey and wants his spotlight. Mickey and Donald's rivalry is often compared to that of the Warner Bros. characters Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck.

Mr. Duck is a mascot for the University of Oregan as its "Fighting Duck". In 1984, he was named an honorary alumnus of the University.

Donald received his own star in 2005 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

This famous duck is officially the third most popular cartoon after the number one Mickey Mouse and the number two Bugs Bunny.
