Happy Birthday Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling!

We first met the beloved character Harry Potter in J.K. Rowling's 1997 smash hit book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. According to an entry on J.K. Rowling's official internet site Harry Potter's birthday is July 31, the same as the author's.

Said to be born in 1980, Harry would be celebrating his milestone 30^th birthday in real life. However, the boy wizard operates in fantasy land and will remain a student until Rowling tells us otherwise. Rowling is celebrating her 45^th birthday.

Rowling followed up the original Harry Potter with six more best-selling books: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1999), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2000), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2003), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2005), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2007).

So far the phenomenal series has been adapted into six hit movies. The last book of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is set to be released as a two part film by Warner Brothers. Eagerly awaited by fans, Part I will be in theaters on November 19, 2010 in the US. Part II is scheduled for release in July, 2011. Both parts of the film are to be released in 3D format.
