Christmas is over.
The carols are sung.
The stockings are down
From where they were hung.
The dishes all sit
In the sink, where they wait,
all crusted and stained
with the food that we ate.
Outside, it's freezing
and the cold wind is blowing.
We've got mountains of garbage
to take out while it's snowing.
Our guests are all gone
And with them, the stress
But the work isn't over-
'Cause they left such a mess!
And Santa has gone
Leaving us with regret,
as we think of the things
that we didn't get.
But though it's all over
and we feel a bit sad
we still have the memories
of the good times we had.
As we reflect on past holidays
the joy and the tears,
our freezer is filled
with enough food for eight years.
