Happy Ending

Everyone Needs a Little Joy...sometimes

David Carr
Like a willow in the wind
That just keeps bending
I'll sit alone
And wait for my happy ending

As you look upon
My heart, it needs mending
I'll be here
Waiting for my happy ending

I looked in your eyes
And saw myself in your heart
And I'm sure

You did the same to me
We both found ourselves
And we both thought we could endure

The pain and the struggle
Life's little tragedies pass us on by

And now at the door you stand
Holding my soul, you want to cry

Only a fool would hold on to hope
So color me foolish then,
Here I will stay
With no where to go
Loneliness now a close personal friend

Like a willow in the wind
That keeps bending
I'll sit alone
And wait for my happy ending

As you look upon my heart
It may need mending
So I'll be here
Waiting for my happy ending

I walked with you solemnly
Through all the bad times
And much of the good

You never promised me bliss
I wouldn't have believed you
Even if you could

What I adored however
Are the things I will take
And keep in my mind

Left with the memories
Of feelings so strong
They rendered me blind

Too blind to see
Those feelings were fleeting
On your end, not mine

Like a willow in the wind
That just keeps bending
I'll sit alone
And wait for my happy ending

I'll be a foolish recipient
Of the broken messages you keep sending
And I'll sit all alone
And wait for my happy ending

It sounds as though you put your heart into this one. Good job.
