Happy Kids

S. E. Masters
Happy kids don't see what you and I see
They see more than we think
Though they're just busy playing and being happy
Like happy kid are supposed to be

Happy kids just play and play and play
'Til the next day comes
To play and play

Happy kids are the last ones to know
Why a threat is at their front door
The world just isn't their worry

Happy kids don't have time
To be concerned with what we think about
They keep their minds free
To capture only the necessities

Some kids only dream of being happy
Not even knowing what happy is like
They haven't been happy
Too many days in their life

How they long to be happy kids
They're happy when they see other kids happy
Wishing they could take their place
I pray for their complete happiness some day

There are hungry kids, sick kids
Battered kids, special needs kids
Abused kids, kids in pain
For some only hope remains

Have you ever been a happy kid
Do you know a happy kid
Observe happy kids closely
You will want them to stay that way
