Celebrating Today the Irish Way

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Searching for last minute St. Patrick's Day ideas in celebrating Irish culture and heritage? Perhaps one of the below suggestions is right up your alley.

"Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling..."

Starting off with All Recipes. All Recipes is full of Irish dishes including Soda Bread, Stuffed Leg of Lamb, Irish stews, bacon and cabbage, Corned Beef and other delicious festive meals.

Desserts include shamrock cookies [think green], Irish Tea Cake, and Mum's Irish Apple Pie. Chocolate mint cheesecake is not on the All Recipes list but should be. However, there is a chocolate cheesecake recipe that may make your mouth water.

And then there's the thirst quenching beverages that smack lips together after someone says "Kiss me I'm Irish!" Irish whiskey, Irish coffee, Guinness, or a tasty Irish punch are fantastic ideas. A superb Irish punch recipe can be found on All Recipes as well. Worth the view!

Saint Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, was captured as a teen, escaped six years later then the Christian missionary returned back to Ireland creating a stronger path for Christianity. A kind toast in Saint Patrick's honor and a prayer prior to the feast is an appreciative gesture.

Now, for some action packed Irish entertainment!

Irish actors include Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Mark Wahlberg, and most any actor with the first name Patrick or Sean. Like in Patrick Dempsey and Sean Penn.

Mark Wahlberg portrayed Micky Ward, an Irish boxer [nicknamed "Irish"] in the 2010 film called "The Fighter". Mark Wahlberg also casts in "The Departed", a movie of cops, Irish gangsters, and moles on both sides. Set in 19th century New York the movie "Gangs of New York" measures war of Irish gangs. "Braveheart" is a Scotland / Ireland battle flick. All good choices with the right Irish beer in celebrating St. Patrick's Day.

Listening to an Irish melody can tug at the heart strings. Irish songs such as "An Irish Lullaby", "Danny Boy", "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling", or "Erin Go Bragh" can be found on Ireland Information. Ireland Information shares a song list with audio and lyrics.

Count your Irish blessings. Reading a few Irish sayings, blessings and quotes can enlighten the afternoon.

"Midst searching four leaf clovers, never allow opportunity to pass."
"My Irish blessings come in freedom's box with a green bow."
"Irish eyes are smiling aligned in gold. The wisdom, a luck charm that never grows old."

And it wouldn't hurt to send an Irish Proverb greeting or cheer! For examples and the right Irish word(s) to fit in your message I suggest visiting Over 100 St. Patrick's Day Words & Sayings. It is loaded with St. Patrick's Day words.

So there you have it. A great way to wake up that leprechaun in you!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
