Happy Valentines Day from Both of Me

I embrace Valentines Day from two different perspectives. There's my sensitive side that likes to
celebrate the occasion the way God and the greeting card companies intended, by exchanging Valentines with my loved ones and celebrating that crazy little thing called love with happy and warm feelings. I think I share this sentiment with everyone that is fortunate enough to be in a healthy relationship when Valentine's Day comes around each year. I also approach Valentines Day from a cynical point of view. This part of me is convinced that Valentines Day is a holiday created by the gift card and jewelry industries to guilt consumers into spending money on superficial gifts and cards with shallow greetings as a means for people to validate their relationships and make these industries a profit. I think I share this perspective with those that are not in relationships when Valentines Day comes around.
