Harbor Song

James R. Ford
sitting on a bench by the harbor, watching the boats pass by, watching the sea gulls in flight, watching the lunch time crowd congregate,
girls in their summertime dresses, some with brown bag lunches, sitting anonymously in the noon time sun
some tourists wait for the harbor boat, takes them around the harbor, passing the city skyline, passing the hectic crowd on the shore, passing the day away with the click of a camera
across the harbor is home, not as we know it anymore, the airport runways extend themselves out to the sea
Neptune Road is gone. replaced by car rental companies and airport storage facilities.
time has begun to end. he last food wrapper blows in the wind, landing in the harbor near jellyfish and red lobster markers
