Hard Candy, Apple ITouch and Progressive Product Marketing

Hard Candy Cases is not waiting for Apple to change the name of the iPod Touch to the iTouch, nor are they waiting for Apple to release the iTouch 4G with integrated camera before creating a Hard Candy Case. Hard Candy Cases goes so far as to promote the iTouch 4G case on the front of the website with the iPhone 4, iPad, Macbook and Netbook cases.

The name of the Apple iTouch 4G, or iPod Touch 4G, is Street Skin Rubber. The case is offered in three colors - black, silver and hot pink. In addition to describing the case as being rubberized and rugged, Hard Candy Cases goes on to suggest the iPod Touch 4G will have an integrated camera.

Leaks, YouTube and Secret Videos

Information on the Apple iPod Touch 4G was originally leaked in May of 2010. Videos of prototypes were also posted on YouTube. While the validity of the videos is uncertain, the support for a next generation iPod Touch raised various questions and tons of support.

Apple typically introduces a new iPod about every 12 months, so the new Apple iTouch 4G would be right on schedule. However, if a camera is integrated into the new iPod 4G some fans question the difference between the iPod 4G and the iPhone 4G.

The difference between the two may only be a phone connection, but there could be good reason for creating an iPod Touch 4G that is so similar to the iPhone 4. The initial popularity boom from the iPhone 4G has waned and though many Apple fans want to use the new technology, they may not have AT&T service or have the means to purchase a new iPhone 4. Herein lies the market for the iPod Touch 4G and a Hard Candy Case to protect the investment. There is a ton of money to be made in the "no-phone needed" market - maybe more than the total sales of the iPhone 4.

For consumers wishing to pick up the Hard Candy Case in hopes of a new iPod Touch 4G being released, it sells for $29.95 with plans to start shipping September 15, 2010. There is no guarantee provided by Hard Candy Cases that Apple will indeed release the iPod Touch 4G or that the new release, were it to happen, would fit the case.
