Hard Knocks, Season 6, Episode 1 premiered Wednesday night on HBO featuring "Training Camp with the New York Jets" in Cortland, though CB Darrelle Revis is conspicuously absent and talked about for much of the 50-plus minutes of programming. Head coach Rex Ryan's style and personality was profiled on the show, too. Season 6, Episode 1 of Hard Knocks profiled one of the leading contenders for the Super Bowl in the New York Jets. Joe Namath even made an appearance at training camp, and expressed his opinions about quarterback and wide receiving techniques.

Big Name New York Jets Signings Are Profiled on Hard Knocks, Season 6, Episode 1, even as Darrelle Revis Remains Incognito

The show begins with players hanging out with the friends and family before they must embark on the gridiron rituals of training camp, where life will be without the comforts of home. But before heading off to Cortland, New York, Rex Ryan signed a two year extension, and gave his wife permission over the phone to shop within reason. But before camp even begins, the big distraction is hold out Darrelle Revis (under contract, but wants more money). Jets head coach Rex Ryan addressed this immediately, saying with "f-bombs" aplenty that the team can beat anyone despite the cornerback's holdout. Ryan is shown to be basically well-liked by his players, and often shows an easy going personality that's backed up with "no nonsense."

Coach Ryan jokingly looks for Darrelle Revis during the first night bedcheck. But because of some big name signings during the offseason like RB LaDanian Tomlinson, CB Antonio Cromartie, LB Jason Taylor, and Super Bowl XLIII MVP and WR Santonio Holmes, this team has a lot to look forward to, especially because of returning players like LB Bart Scott (who's considered the head coach's alter-ego, often getting smack talked to him in the process) as well as QB Mark Sanchez, who wants to step it up this upcoming season.

But for those on the bubble of making the team, injuries aren't helping their case, including Kevin Basped, who's deemed to have "bad knees" by the coaching staff, and was the first player to be shown cut on this HBO Sports show. FB John Connor, nicknamed "The Terminator", is another player who has to prove himself, and tries to on Season 6, Episode 1 of Hard Knocks.

New York Jets Fans Scream for Darrelle Revis during Season 6, Episode 1 of Hard Knocks

The coaches have set up a jar to collect nominal fines from themselves of $1-$5 for such "offenses" like running without a t-shirt or using tanning spray. Yet it's Darrelle Revis who takes up a lot of time of Hard Knocks, Season 6, Episode 1, as he wants to be the highest paid player on the team. A secret meeting in Sullivan County takes place between the New York Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum and the Revis camp. The stalemate is shown to be real frustrating for the powers-that-be.

Many fans of the NFL will get their first tastes of 2010 coverage through this program. The Season 6, Episode 1 premiere of Hard Knocks moved fast, and didn't mince on the "locker room" type of rhetoric heard nor the hard-hitting action during the summertime practices and the annual "Green and White Scrimmage", where fans were screaming for Darrelle Revis.
