In his book "A Man Named Dave," author Dave Pelzer takes a hard look at his childhood. He must come to grips with the love-hate relationship he feels toward his mother. The author states: "In life you are going to make mistakes, you're going to fall down, but it's the getting up that counts. Just like in baseball: you'll get a few hits, but most likely, you'll strike out more than you'll get on base. But don't quit." Of all the hard times quotes, this one is sure to help you to put life's downs back into perspective. It's all part of the process.
Another great quote comes from Sir Winston Churchill. It is a favorite of the captains of industry. "If you are going through hell, keep going." As quotes about hard times go, this one offers a few different meanings. It may apply to the need to just keep moving, no matter how difficult it seems personally. It also encourages the person in dire straights to never give up; sooner or later the situation will change.
Author Suzanne Bates had a somewhat different understanding when she used the quote in "Speak Like a CEO." She believes that it encourages the hearer to learn from personal mistakes but not dwell on the actual act of failure. Using the quote in the business environment may even help someone to build on a disastrous mistake and excel from there.
Albert Camus was aphilosopher and an avid athlete. As such, he wrote in his book "The Plague" that "After many years during which I saw many things, what I know most surely about morality and the duty of man I owe to sport and learned it in the RUA." The RUA refers to the Racing Universitaire d'Alger.
Perhaps it is time to take the focus off life's problems and take up a sport? Hard times quotes may not make the situation better or somehow reveal the source of more income. Instead, they allow you to move forward in spite of setbacks that are most likely only of a temporary nature.
