When we go out to eat at a restaurant, where do the purses usually go? Many times the purse will be set down on the floor by our feet. When we go shopping at the grocery store, where does the purse go? Usually most women will set their purse right down in the shopping basket in the seat. This is the same seat that a small child still in diapers has been sitting and that diaper could have been soiled.
When we go to see a movie at the local movie theater, where do most women put their purse? It goes right down on the messy floors that are full of sticky, dirty messes. The really most horrible and disgusting place ever to set a purse down is when we go use the public restroom, many women set their purses down on the floor beside them in the stall instead of handing them on the knob that is there. A public restroom floor is the nastiest, filthiest place to ever set a purse down on.
We all run errands everyday and our purses are with us as we run these errands and as soon as we are finish and head home, as soon as we walk through the front door of our home, what is the first thing we do? Many of us set our purses down on a coffee table that is near the front door or on the kitchen table where we eat, a counter top in the kitchen where food is prepared and even on the kitchen stove. Now all of those dirty, nasty bacteria and germs could be hanging out in our homes, but are there enough of these germs and bacteria on the bottom of a purse enough to make us sick?
Studies were conducted at a St Francis Laboratory and three purses were tested. The bottoms of all three purses were swabbed to check for any presence of bacteria and then these swabs were then placed in culture disks. The results that were found showed that there were not enough bacteria to make someone sick.
The next time you go out shopping, or go see a movie and the next time you use a public restroom, keep your purse in your lap just to be sure your purses does stay germ free. Every time I arrive back home after shopping, I persoanlly spray the bottom of my purse with Lysol Disinfectant Spray just for my own peace of mind.
